1 EXAMINATIONS INFORMATION Mrs C Thompson Examinations Manager

2 ALL EXTERNAL EXAMS ARE CONDUCTED IN THE SAME WAY:
THEREFORE YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF: THE SCHOOL REGULATIONS : behaviour / uniform! THE EXAMINATIONS BOARDS REGULATIONS: you must check the Awarding Boards regulations (JCQ) before the exams. These are available on our school website together with the examinations timetable. They are also displayed inside and outside all examinations rooms! THE EMERGENCY PROCEDURE DURING EXAMS INVIGILATORS are appointed to support the exams process and to make sure all regulations are followed.

3 Please remember: external examinations
Take place in the summer term (May and June) ALL courses are externally assessed. This also applies to some BTEC courses! Note: any qualifications that includes a practical component (e.g. Art, PE, Dance, Music, Drama and Catering) those practical assessments are timetabled before the written exams start. The dates are decided later in the year by the Awarding Boards and will not show on your exams timetable! Your teachers will let you know during your lessons. Most subjects also include controlled assessments. These are on-going throughout the year and are an integral part of your GCSEs (can be worth 25% or more of the full GCSE qualification). Controlled assessments are subject to the same sanctions as any other unit of your GCSE. Any malpractice has to be reported to the JCQ to be dealt with by the Awarding Board concerned. The days of ‘RESITS’ are over! You get one chance and one chance only of sitting your exams! (with the exception of English & Maths where a November resit can be possible but, if needed, you will have to make your own arrangements with a different centre). BEING ON HOLIDAY ON THE DAY OF AN EXAM = 0 MARKS FOR THAT EXAM!!!!!

Some weeks before your exams you will receive a statement of entry from me (Exams Manager). You must bring this personalised statement of entry/timetable to every examinations as inspectors may want you to prove your identity, invigilators may need to check your entries where there is conflicting information, and it will enable you to find your seat without any fuss.
