3. Subsistence farming (growing only for family consumption)

4. Ocean-based economy (fishing, whaling, shipping, & shipbuilding)

5. Triangular trade

Middle Colonies Colonies of this region are: New York Pennsylvania New Jersey Delaware

1. Shorter winters & fertile soil Characteristics of this region are: 1. Shorter winters & fertile soil

3. DIVERSE! People from all over Europe
