CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT UTRGV CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT

What is CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT ? You will be able to be both a high school student and a college student at the same time. The difference between CONCURRENT and DUAL enrollment is that for CONCURRENT, you take your college classes after hours at the institution (or online).

How do I qualify? Must be a sophomore or junior Rank in top 10% Scholastic average of 90 or higher ACT minimum composite score of 22 SAT (Critical Reading & Math) 1030

PROS & CONS Get up to 8 college credit hours per session for FREE Summer I, Fall, Spring Students must provide their own transportation Students will have to buy their own books

Deadline to submit packets for Summer I is May 15th. When can I start? Registration for Summer Session I opens Friday, April 15th. Deadline to submit packets for Summer I is May 15th. Dates for Summer Session I are June 6 – July 16

What do I need to do? Visit with your counselor to pick up a packet Copy of your Apply TX confirmation page High School transcript in a sealed envelope Testing records (TSI) Prior College Coursework (transcripts) Proof of Immunization (Bacterial Meningitis) UTRGV Concurrent Enrollment Authorization form Take all 3 sections of the TSI test (Not all courses require passing scores on TSI)

NEXT STEP….. YOU AND UTRGV UTRGV Admissions Office will review your file and notify you via email about your next step Meeting with a college advisor Registration for your course(s)

VERY IMPORTANT PARENT MEETING THURSDAY, APRIL 14TH 5:00 P.M. PRESENTATION BY UTRGV OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS PLEASE ASK YOUR PARENTS TO ATTEND!

CONGRATULATIONS …………YOU ARE A COLLEGE STUDENT!!! Being a college student comes with serious consequences! A “W” or a failing grade can seriously impact your financial aid and/or college admission in the future!!! Please take this commitment very seriously!

How do I get my high school credit? If you take a course that can give you high school credit, i.e. Government, you will need to submit the UTRGV Credit Request form (bright orange) after the course has been completed. Your counselor will give you that form when you pick up your packet. Your official UTRGV transcript will need to be attached to this form.
