Classroom Support FY 2018 UTFAB Proposal Al Powell, CSU Classroom Support March 28, 2017

Emphasis in 2018 Replace Smart Sympodiums with Sharp touch-screen monitors Smart units are failing Sharp units will work with a variety of software Enable BYOD in more classrooms Move aggressively from lamp to laser projectors. Longer service life – hope to extend life to 6 years No lamp replacements No down time in classrooms Complete microphone replacements in GA classrooms Move all mics to rechargeable, in-room units End need for faculty to check out microphones Coordinate with CSU Online for college/department distance classrooms

Projects for 2018: Complete Shure rechargeable mic systems in GA classrooms. Installs new frequency, rechargeable microphones. Project is half completed. 32 units, $39,800. ITEM TOTAL: $39,800

Projects for 2018: HDMI video switchers, 27 units, to replace a generation of HDMI switchers with no audio transmission. Projects for 2018: Data projectors, 30 units to replace projectors 5+ years old. Emphasis will be on using laser projectors whenever possible. Projects for 2018: Crestron control touch panels, 5 panels to replace obsolete units. Eddy 118/119 Shepardson 102/120/212 ITEM: $4,375 Sharp touch-screen monitors and mounts, 10 units. To replace failing Sympodiums and equip Smart classrooms where capture is added during the year. ITEM: $7,500

Projects for 2018: Labor for classroom upgrades: 31 rooms X 16 hours per room @$75 per hour. ITEM: $37,200

Projects for 2018: Microphones: $39,800 Video/audio switchers: $37,430 Data Projectors: $79,000 Touch panels: $4,375 Touch screen monitors: $7,500 Labor: $37,200 TOTAL PROPOSAL/REQUEST: $205,305

FY 2018 Timeline & Strategy Work will be scheduled in summer 2017 and winter break 2017-18 Move to laser projectors will reduce lamp replacement expense and potentially extend projector service life. Touch monitors replace failing Smart Sympodiums (4 failed in Jan/Feb) and prepare smart classrooms for faculty BYOD Mics in proposal complete the conversion of all GA classrooms to new mic system and frequency.

FY 2019 Refresh about 30 rooms Aylesworth, Chemistry, Education, Engineering, Forestry, Glover, Johnson, Pathology Focus on: video/audio switchers, data projectors and touch screen technology Replace all Smart Sympodiums; add touch screen monitors in 20 smart classrooms A couple of touch panels and document cameras Cost will be similar to FY 18 proposal Probable increase in hourly labor rate

FY 2020 Refresh about 30 rooms Buildings located all across campus Focus on: video/audio switchers, data projectors and touch screen technology A couple of touch panels and document cameras Touch screen monitors in 20 smart classrooms Cost will be similar to FY 18 proposal Attempt to balance number of refresh requests between 2019 and 2020
