Grenville House Tuesday 2nd May – Friday 5th May 2017 Year 4/5 Residential Grenville House Tuesday 2nd May – Friday 5th May 2017 wwww.grenvillehouse.co.uk

Where is Grenville House? Grenville House is in Brixham.

Safety at Grenville The centre provides safe and high quality Adventure Education activities that are inspiring and challenging. Fully qualified staff run the activities and CRB checks are in place for all the Centre team. The Centre holds quality and safety marks for Outdoor Education and food hygiene. Risk Assessments are carried out by the Centre for every activity they do. We have completed our own Risk Assessment prior to the residential taking place.

Who is going? We have 40 children going and a mixture of 5 adults from school throughout the week – plus all the centre staff who run and organise everything! Miss Eustace – Tuesday to Friday Mr Boatman– Tuesday to Friday Mrs Cottrell – Tuesday to Friday Miss Burke – Tuesday to Friday Mrs Sullivan, Miss Isaac and Mrs Bosley for some days.

What will we be doing there?

What food will we eat? Great meals are provided for school groups - menus are well made and taste great. They provide fresh wholesome meals cooked on site by our chef and served by our catering team. The Grenville kitchens hold the 5 star food hygiene 'scores on the doors' rating: Breakfast of cereals, toast and juice Various sandwiches with a large choice of fresh fruit and lunch snacks A hot three course evening meal Supper / cake

What can we bring? You should have the kit list. You do not need to bring any bedding unless you want to (some children prefer to). Duvets and sheets are provided. This is a recommendation from Grenville themselves based on their experiences and the activities they will be doing. Obviously a lot will depend on the forecast but remember we are by the coast so the weather can be changeable. It is not compulsory you go away and buy everything – use your judgements as parents based on your children who you know best. We will try to make sure they change their underwear everyday but they also don’t need new outfits every day. Most of the time the children will need long trousers and long sleeved tops, trainers and waterproof coat. They need to have their own water bottle, lunchbox with them and a torch (if they have one!!).

How will we sleep? We are sleeping in girls’ and boys’ dormitories. Grenville House is organised as a block of rooms with bunkbeds. Teachers’ rooms are in every floor.. Each room can sleep up to 18 children. Prior to going we will ask children to name a few friends who they would ideally like to be with. We will ensure they are with at least 1 of those. The children won’t know who they are sharing with until we are on the coach and on the way. Obviously boys and girls will be kept separate.

Medicines and Dietary info. It’s absolutely crucial that we know what medicines your child will need to take whilst we are away. On the day, the form, named medicines in a bag must be handed to Miss Eustace on the Tuesday. All medicines must have been prescribed by the doctor – a form for medication is available from the office. Please inform us of any dietary information if we don’t know it already – food intolerances, allergies etc.

Contact information and communication with parents. We need you to make sure the school office has your up to date emergency contact details. We will take with us all of that needed information. Should there be a need to contact you we will inform the school first and then they will contact you. We will update the school each day on activities and the awesome fun we’ll be having. In an emergency, you can contact Grenville House between 8am – 5pm on 01803 852797 or Miss Eustace after these hours on 07749 934021 No children’s mobile phones are allowed.

Key Messages Arrive at school on Tuesday at 8.30am. No electronics at all NO mobile phones They can bring up to £5 spending money as there is a little set up shop on site with bits n bobs available about Grenville – key rings, pens etc. They can bring a small container of sweets which we will be responsible for and allow a little treat after dinner each day. No food is allowed in rooms. They can bring a disposable camera if they are fully responsible for it – but please be assured we’ll take loads!!!!

Any questions?
