Build Health & Wellness Motivation for Your Team with STEPS!

STEPS Overview STEPS is an acronym. It stands for Set your goals, Track your progress, Embrace new habits, Promote healthy eating, Share your success. SNA wants to make it simple for you to eat healthy, feel great, and get more active. It’s all about small changes that can add up to make a big difference in your health. Like I mentioned earlier, we want all of you to succeed at work but don’t forget to take care of your health too!

Program Benefits Access healthy resources and recipes to eat better and improve your wellness It’s easy to get started. Free. Fun. You might even win a prize like fitness gear, spa certificates and fitness trackers There are so many great things about STEPS – for one, it’s absolutely free, and it’s easy to get started. You can access health resources like recipes, fitness ideas, mental wellness tips, and more. This program was created to help you make good choices and feel your best.

2. Complete Monthly Challenges SAMPLE Step 2: Complete the monthly challenges. The core of STEPS is the monthly challenge. Each month, there’s a new challenge related to health, fitness, or mental wellness. We decided to have monthly challenges because a lot of psychology research indicates it takes 30 days for us to form a habit – so it’s kind of a magic number. The idea is that each month, we introduce a new challenge, and by the end of the month, you’ve created a habit that sticks – then you move on to the next but keep up your success! Record your healthy choices on the tracking sheet and remember you need to earn at least 50 points per month for a chance to win prizes! SAMPLE 3. Submit Points 2016-2017 challenges begin September 2016 To report your points, go to the STEPS website, and click “Submit Your Challenge Points”. Enter in how many points you had before the 5th day of the next month (so if you’re finished with the September challenge, you need to upload the # of points you earned by October 4th. http://schoolnutrition.org/Steps/SubmitYourPoints/ 2016-2017 challenges begin September 2016

2016-2017 Prizes Grand Prize: All-expense paid trip to ANC 2017 in Atlanta! Additional prizes include wellness related gift cards and workout gear! Completing monthly challenges means you can win a grand prize trip to ANC 2017 or one of five smaller prizes.

Get Moving at SNA Conferences Wellness Events are offered at SNIC and ANC Exercise while away from home Receive a cool STEPS T-shirt! If you plan on attending SNIC or ANC – you’re in luck! Both conferences will feature special wellness events for attendees. There you can have some fun, get moving, and pick up a free t-shirt!

Motivating Your Team for STEPS Lead by example Generate buzz and excitement about STEPS Offer additional incentives, when possible Swap healthy recipes Hold an employee luncheon — bring a healthy lunch to pass and share the recipe. Sometimes all we need is a little incentive to take on a new challenge. Motivators that work well include: Gift cards, paid time off, sports clothing, recognition at team events
