Changing Habits, Changing Lives: The Ultimate Challenge! Create the right campaign and you will INSPIRE people to change people’s lives for the better. Imagine how great that would feel? When it comes to healthy eating, the hardest part is convincing people to change their habits. We all get stuck in certain patterns of behaviour when it comes to eating and drinking.

Create the best campaign and you will win a fabulous, all-expenses paid, VIP trip to your nearest Jamie Oliver Restaurant for 4 people! So let’s get started!

TASK 1: The Focus of Your Campaign The same old problems… …but the problems don’t change! So you need to find a focus that is fresh, will grab people’s attention and inspire that all-important change. Do some research, think about what is important to you and pick a focus for your campaign. Eating the right foods, e.g. fruit and veg Staying away from the wrong foods, e.g. fat, salt and sugar Promoting exercise Preventing obesity

Task 2: Your Target Market Who will your campaign be targeting? Jamie’s School Dinners was a 2005 television documentary series. This started the ‘Feed Me Better’ campaign which challenged food available to school students. The campaign succeeded in making changes in government legislation, the setting up of a School Food Trust and most importantly highlighted a crucial issue to all sectors of society. You can target different ages, genders, cultures, people who may live in certain areas; it’s up to you!

Task 3: Your Campaign Name Change4Life is a public health programme which is run by the Department of Health. Some recent campaign names have included…  Smart Restart – encourage children to walk to school and take a healthy lunch  Get Going this Summer – fun ways for families to be active during the holidays  Breakfast4Life – ideas for healthy breakfasts Pick a name that will relate to your campaign and who you are targeting!

Task 4: Design Your Logo and Tagline A logo should be simple and eye- catching. Think about your target market when making colour and font choices. Less is more! Tagline techniques Short and sharp Rhyme or assonance 3 part list Personal pronouns Empowering and persuasive language

Task 5: Your Submission! It’s totally up to you what you wish to create; a poster, a script for a TV or radio advert, you could even design the homepage for your website! Be mindful of your resources available and how much time you have to work on your project! Decide what you want to create.

Tips: Designing a Poster  Layout is key  Colour?  Using the space?  Tell a story – provide a clear flow of information  Find a focus, make the more important information bigger!  Balance the composition; text vs. images  Have fun!  Pick a theme

Tips: Television or Radio Advert  Script or storyboard?  Pick a genre for your story  Who are your characters?  Feature your target market  Use of language, rhythm and song?!  Realistic or not?  Beginning, middle and end?  Flashbacks?  Establish a problem which is then solved?

Tips: Designing Your Homepage Layout Navigation bar (at the top) Fonts Feature your logo Colours Sidebar (down the side!) Avoid cluttering! Images
