Behaviour Policy Students need to come to school fully equipped to learn.  They need to have all the necessary equipment as per the Year 7 Information booklet.  Failure to have the necessary equipment will eventually end in a sanction – this is something we want to avoid. Teachers much prefer handing out Good News Cards and not detentions!

Attendance Policy If you are absent you must: Contact us by 8.30 am on the first day of absence. Send a note in with your child to explain the absence on their first day returning to school. Punctuality: The college day starts at 8.30 am and students should be in school at 8.20am, to be ready for registration at that time. Registers are marked at the start of form time and students will receive a late mark if they are not in by this time. Senior staff are at the gate every day and will issue students with a late detention (this takes place at lunchtime) if they arrive between 8.30 and 8.50am. If students arrive after 8.50 they will need to go to Reception to be signed in and receive a late detention.

Persistent Low Attendance Attendance procedures The attendance officer should be contacted to explain all absences on 0208 831 3019

All forms of bullying will be taken seriously. Safe to Learn “Bullying behaviour is the intentional hurting (physical or emotional) of one person by another where the relationship involves an imbalance of power. It is usually repetitive or persistent, although some one off attacks can have continuing harmful effect on the victim.” Anti-Bullying Alliance 1. To provide a safe and happy learning environment 2. To prevent and stop bullying behaviour 3. To respond to all forms of bullying in a reasonable proportionate and consistent way 4. To support the pupil who has experienced bullying 5. To ensure the bully is dealt with appropriately and future behaviour modified

Settling in Interview - Wednesday September 20th 2017 During this evening you will meet with your child’s form tutor to discuss how they have settled in and how its going so far. This is a very important evening for you to attend because the next opportunity to come into school and speak to us isn’t until 29th November, which will be Parents’ evening.

Springwest Academy is a money free site which means we do not deal with cash on the school site. The method of payment for your child’s lunch or school trips is an app called ‘ParentPay’. This allows you to pay online from the internet straight to the school – please make sure you have set up your ParentPay account ready for September. Parent Pay
