Our Role? To be a consistent support to your child throughout their time at Patcham High School: Attendance Punctuality Wellbeing Academic & Personal Progress Self-Management Welfare Friendly Face Your child’s tutor will be the person who knows them best at Patcham and is their and your first port of call if needed.

5 The Values We have to be an effective and supportive TEAM. We are a Year team not a Year group. We’d like our students to be PROUD that they come here and take PRIDE in everything they do whilst here. We expect students to RESPECT each other, the staff , themselves and our school. We hope they always strive for SUCCESS… which put simply is being the best they can be every single day.

6 The Expectations Checklist
They are in correct school uniform. They are on time to school and not late to lessons. They are fully equipped & organised. They keep their phone on silent and away. It will be confiscated if not. They give their best. They listen and follow instructions. They get involved. They are kind. They are polite. They help each other. They are here.

7 Getting the basics right.
Uniform – This can be a source of conflict. Please ensure your child complies with the uniform policy to avoid sanctions. Completely black shoes & black socks. If wearing trousers they must be black and made of suit material. Skirt worn at a respectable length. No excessive make-up, one stud piercing allowed in each ear, no nose or other facial piercings. No unnatural hair colours. Shorts can be worn but they must be school shorts with the PHS logo.

8 Getting the basics right.
Equipment: A large number of unnecessary behaviour points are received through a lack of organisation. Please ensure that they are fully equipped & organised with the following: PE kit Pens Pencil Ruler, Coloured pencils, Rubber, Pencil sharpener, Protractor, School journal DEAR book. This list can be found in the Welcome Booklet (Uniform page) and the school website

9 Getting the basics right.
Attendance to school is highly important and also a learnt and habitual behaviour. Please ensure that your child is in school as much as possible. Just one day off can effect progress. Please do not take offence when you are contacted after an absence we are just showing we care and are being supportive. Your child will be asked to fill in a short Back to School Questionnaire when they return to school after absence to enable them to keep a track on work they may need to catch up on.

10 If your child is 15 minutes late to school every day, they lose two whole weeks of learning by the end of the year! The most important thing to remember is that we want your child here, so that we can get to know them, teach them and make sure they are successful! 90% attendance may look good, but this means that your child misses 19 whole days of education a year! Just two days off a month during your school life adds up to missing a whole school year by year 11! If your child doesn’t want to come to school, we are here to help them and yourself and we will help you get the support you need. You can go to school with nits, conjunctivitis, a headache or a cold! We will look after them! A student with 95% attendance will achieve GCSE results at least one grade higher than those with lower attendance.

11 We have incredibly high expectations for every young person at Patcham High School.
Like every school we have a sanctioning system and we will use it consistently if our students continue to make poor choices. Students will be removed from lessons if they disrupt the learning of others. If this should happen parents will be informed.

12 Working Together I am a firm believer in there being a team around a child which is built on good communication and positive relationships between the child, teacher and parent/carer. I am convinced that every young person who comes in through the doors has a desire to do their very best whilst at PHS. At times they will face barriers and will make mistakes and it is our job as adults to support them & ensure they make positive choices and overcome those barriers. All I ask of you is to work and communicate with the school as best you can to ensure your child has the most positive time here possible. If there are any issues please contact your child’s tutor in the first instance.

If this has not made its way home to you, please sign the sheet in Reception and one will be sent to you. First day for Year 7 is Wednesday 5th of September. They will receive timetables etc. then.
