3 Behaviour Whole school belief children should be praised and encouraged Children take responsibility for their own behaviour Whole School Golden Rules Any unusual changes in behaviour or persistent unacceptable behaviour is recorded – speak to parents. “Open door” policy, please come and see me if you have any worries, concerns or problems by making an appointment. Zero tolerance: any bullying, fighting or swearing.

4 Class Dojo Children can earn points for good behaviour
The child with the most points at the end of the week is named the Class Dojo Winner! Children who are moved to amber will lose 5 mins at play time or lunch to reflect on their poor choices. Children who are moved to red will lose 5 mins at play time or lunch to reflect on their poor choices.

6 Uniform Please ensure that your child’s name is in all items of clothing, including shoes! 7 P. E kit must be kept in school, so that it is available every day
P.E kit must be kept in school, so that it is available every day. It can be taken home half termly to be washed. P.E is currently on a Thursday and Friday. If your child is doing a PE based afterschool club (e.g. Gymnastics) please can they bring spare kit for this as often P.E kits go home and don’t return in time for the next P.E session Due to lack of space in the cloakrooms, please avoid large bags.

8 Attendance & Punctuality
We take attendance and punctuality at school seriously as these are key requirements of all schools. We know that children who attend school regularly and arrive on time achieve more, settle better and thrive in school. We want all children to make the best of their place at this school so ask for your support in this If your child is late for school, an adult needs to come to the School Office to sign them in

10 Homework/expectations
English and Maths homework will be handed out on a Friday and should be returned on Wednesday. Each week, your child will receive spellings and times tables to learn. Both will be tested each week on a Friday. Both have separate tests in SATs in May. Alongside this, there will be a topic based project for your child to complete and bring into school by the end of the half term. Children who do not complete homework or read 3 times a week will complete it in homework support during Friday lunchtime

11 Reading Books We expect that children will read at least 3 times a week at home. We will expect children to put their reading book and reading record book in the basket if they need it to be changed. Please can you remind your child to put their reading book in the basket if it needs changing.

13 Medical/Important Matters
Any sickness or diarrhoea must be followed by 48 hrs absence. Any absence requires a note or telephone call explaining why. Attendance is very important and new government legislation is now not authorising ANY holidays during term times. Head lice are common! Please check regularly and treat as recommended. Only named, prescribed, medication can be administered by staff. Children with asthma will be helped to take their inhaler. An inhaler must be kept in school and please ensure they are in date.

14 How you can help: Reading and discussing their book on a regular basis
Learn times-tables, inverse facts and using and applying (ie 6 x 6 = 36, 60 x 6 = 360, 6 x 0.6 = 3.6 etc) Join a local library Talk to your child about what they have learnt in school Encourage child to take part in after school clubs and clubs outside school Early nights!

15 Things to remember Important things to remember:
Key Stage Two Tests will take place wc 13th May do not book any holidays during this week. PE is currently on a Thursday and Friday - please ensure your child has a labelled PE kit in school every day. It is really important that your child reads regularly - they should all read at least three times each week. Discussing the book with your child will develop reading comprehension skills too. Please help your child learn times tables up to 12x12. Hit the Button is a great game to help with this. Have a look at these websites - they'll be really useful for going over key ideas. great site for revising English. It covers Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling, Reading and Writing, Speaking and Listening and a range of text types. range of lieracy games - well worth a look! everthing to do with KS2 Mathematics. If you are having a problem with any aspect of Maths then take a look at this site. some FREE fun games to sharpen your maths skills.

16 SATs!!!! At the end of Year 6, children sit tests in: Reading Maths
Spelling, punctuation and grammar These tests are both set and marked externally, and the results are used to measure the school’s performance (for example, through reporting to Ofsted and published league tables). Your child’s marks will be used in conjunction with teacher assessment to give a broader picture of their attainment.
