1 Class of 2018/19

2 Good morning class of 2018/19. As you all know, we are moving to Phoenix House in September, we will offer you the same level of support and care but I would like to remind you of the basic expectations in place for September… You will no doubt have lots of questions which we will talk over at the end. Do not forget that there is no such thing as a silly question.

3 Transport The majority of you will be making your own way to
school in September. School staff and Mr Needham will support with this. Please remember that your time in school starts from the moment you leave the house until you get home. Poor behaviour on public transport and around Phoenix House will be dealt with as a school incident and the appropriate sanction may be put in place (but I am sure this will not be an issue!!)

4 We recommend that you do a practice run to school before September.
Please ask a staff member if you are still unsure. PHOENIX HOUSE Hand car wash

5 Phoenix House (Imagine there are no boxes….)

6 Phoenix House

7 Phoenix House Our new school (and sports hall) is a multi million
pound facility that was built for YOU. We must remember to respect this amazing facility as this is YOUR school. We are so proud of how you have all developed as people and learners, our new facilities will make learning even better, it is YOUR responsibility to ensure that behaviour in and out of Phoenix House is appropriate.

8 Uniform All pupils have or will have a full set of uniform by the first day. Pupils who do not have a full set will be given extra uniform as soon as it is delivered. Coats, caps and headphones should be removed at the door and are not allowed to be worn inside the school building. Pupils not in the correct uniform will be provided an alternative and will have to go home to change if this is deemed necessary. TSLA uniform is: -Navy school sweatshirt -Teal school polo shirt -Black school trousers -Black school shoes/trainers -PE kit: Navy polo, navy shorts/leggings, appropriate trainers

9 Valuables… Mobile phones
Valuables should not be left unattended at any time. If you are required to bring large amounts of money or expensive items into the academy, ask your form tutor to look after it at the start of the day. Do not bring items such as iPods, hand-held computers, laser pens etc. into the academy. Mobile phones can be brought into the academy but must be switched off and locked away in your locker on a morning. If a mobile phone goes off in class, this must be switched off immediately and handed in to the teacher who will lock it in their drawer. This will be locked in the pupil’s locker at the earliest opportunity. If a pupil is found to be using their phone, this will be confiscated and placed in a locked draw and put in the pupil’s locker.

10 Equipment Every Pupil will be provided with a full set of equipment in
each class. All equipment needs to be treated with respect and looked after. It will be your responsibility to hand back in a full set of equipment at the end of each lesson. You will need to bring your PE kit on days when you have PE. Your bags, valuables and PE kit will be kept safe in your lockers with every pupil having access to your own locker!!

11 Form Time Every morning you will spend 30 minutes with your
form tutor. Your Form tutor will speak to you each day about reward points and any concerns they may have. Your Form tutor will complete a “check in” each morning to see how you are feeling. At this point it may be that your Form tutor recommends you speak with a Senior Pastoral Coach for some support. Form time is like any other lesson and so the rules of the academy and expectations around work will remain the same.

12 Toilet Facilities If you need to use the toilet you will have to ask for a staff members permission as the toilet doors are locked. Pupils should not go to the toilet in class time wherever possible but there may be times when you need to. You should go to the toilet in form, break time and lunch wherever possible.

13 Break Time/Lunch Break time will be spent outside on our hard courts
(a variety of sports will be available). If it is raining, break time will be spent inside and there will also be activities in classrooms as there is this year. We have a lot more space in September . Food can also be purchased at break time. Lunch will be eaten in our new dining room and will be ordered and paid for (if you are required to pay) via your form tutor at the start of each week, money can also be handed in to student services.

14 The Student Planner Every Pupil will be given a new student planner, it is your responsibility to look after this. The student planner will be used by all staff to record your positive contribution and the number of points you have earned, we will have far more opportunity for rewards in the new year. Your planner will be used to record homework and is full of useful information that will help you in class.
