Welcome to Year 4 Holly Crofts Parent information meeting Autumn 2014

Routines Monday and Friday – PE lessons. Thursday – homework handed in. Friday – new homework set/spelling test/new spellings given. (Please have spelling book in school every day) Reading records collected in daily.

Reading at home Please try to listen to your child read at least 3-4 times a week and discuss what they have been reading and ask them questions; such as those in the handout sent home. This is important both for their reading and their writing – the more the children read, the better their writing will be! The children are aiming for their reading challenge rewards!

Maths The children are working through their Terrific Times Tables – any help you can give them in learning their tables is great! Any practical Maths you can do at home is really helpful – weighing, measuring, shopping, telling the time – all these will help them when they come to address these topics in school. (Please take a handout for ideas on fun Maths to do at home!)

What else are we learning about? In History and Geography we are learning about the Romans. In Science we are learning about solids, liquids and gases. In RE we are learning about pilgrimages. In Art and DT we are designing and making aqueducts.

Thank you! Thank you for coming to the meeting today and for your ongoing support! Please let us know if you are able to help out at all with listening to readers or would be available to help out on trips etc.
