The Grading Scale is as follows: 90-100%=A 80-89% =B 65-79% =C 55-64% =D less than 55%=F The work habits grade is based on tardies, missing assignments, and students’ preparedness for class The cooperation grade is based upon tardies and your child’s behavior and participation in the classroom. Progress reports are issued every five weeks.

Homework I assign homework once a week. Between twenty to thirty minutes of homework will be assigned each night. Additionally, students have a current event presentation on a week that they have chosen and signed up for in class.

Textbooks Each student has been assigned a textbook. Books should be covered and kept at home. Students must bring textbooks to class when requested.

Political Action Project All seniors attending LAUSD schools must complete a service learning project to earn their diploma. The social science teachers here at SPHS have incorporated this graduation requirement into an existing department project, the political action project. This project involves completing ten service hours of a political nature. The project will be discussed at length in class and is due in April 2017.

Back to School Night and PHABO Conferences Back to School Night is schedule for Thursday, August 24th. It will run from 6:00-8:00. PHABO conferences will be held September 29th from 4:30-6:30. Please plan on attending if you would like to speak to me specifically about your child.

Thank You, and I know we will have a great semester!
