Go to College! Get Ahead! DUAL CREDIT PARENT INFORMATIONAL SESSION

WHAT IS DUAL CREDIT? Dual Credit is the process by which a high school student enrolls in a college course and receives simultaneous credit for the course from the college and the high school. DUAL CREDIT

DUAL CREDIT COURSE BENEFITS Understand what it takes to be successful in college Experience college before leaving high school Save time and money earning a college degree or certificate Earn both college and high school credit at the same time DUAL CREDIT COURSE BENEFITS

GENERAL INFORMATION DUAL CREDIT Students who take dual credit courses are beginning their college career. This is a serious commitment and should only be entered into by those who are ready to be committed to college-level work. Students and parents should discuss the level of commitment needed in regards to their high school course load and extra-curricular activities. Student & Parents must sign dual credit agreement.

Is Dual Credit the Right Choice for Me ? Parents and students should consider goals, maturity, responsibility, and academic ability prior to enrolling in a dual credit program. You might decide not to participate in dual credit if you: Are struggling with your other high school classes Feel overwhelmed with your current load of coursework and extracurricular activities Are not ready to take on college-level coursework and the responsibilities of being a college student Remember!!! Dual credit classes become part of your permanent college transcript and impact eligibility for financial aid and scholarships!

STUDY TIPS AND INFORMATION The average study time for a college course is 2-3 hours per hour of class time. Some classes will require more study time. It is better to overestimate time required.
