What to Expect What will you be doing on the Your Time programme? Developing your personal skills. Investigating and sampling employment options. Improving your skills in maths and English. Gaining first hand experience of employment through work placement. Developing your skills in applying for work or further courses and interview techniques.

Week 1 – Getting Started MondayTuesdayWednesdayThursday Friday Week 1 AM Induction This is where we get to know you and you get to know us. Understanding Assertive Behaviour: Look at different types of behaviours and their impact on you and others. Dealing With Problems: Start to understand the six steps to solving problems. What are the effects of problems? Managing Personal Finance: Look at where your money comes from and where it goes. Create a personal budget Complete City & Guilds Award In PSS. Week 1 PM Developing Personal Confidence: Identify your achievements and strengths. Assess your confidence levels. Identify steps to improve your confidence Identify the benefits of assertive behaviour and practice assertion Create ideas, identify a solution and try it out. Has the problem been solved? Understand universal credit Complete City & Guilds Award: Complete you first qualification.

Week 2 – Developing Employability Skills Work towards a City & Guilds qualification in employability skills: Effective communication Working as part of a team Communication skills CVs Applying for a jobs, apprenticeship or course Interview skills

Week 3 – Options Week Choose activities that match your interests and needs. These could include: Gaining a qualification in IT Look at the world of work in sectors like warehousing, retail or childcare Short e-learning courses in subjects that interest you Participating in external and outdoor activities

Week 4 – Developing Core Skills Preparing for your work placement Developing core skills in English and maths Springboard

Week 5 – Work Placement Work with your EEA to choose a placement that is relevant for you Gain valuable, real-life experience of work Obtain a work-place reference

Week 6 – Achieving Results Work placement debrief with YPC Celebrate your achievements Plan your next steps

What do these sessions involve? Group sessions, working as a team and individually. Activities linked to finding the right placement and helping you apply for jobs, apprenticeships or other courses. Online courses to develop your skills and confidence in maths and English. Taking time outside the centre to visit employers, complete activities and work placements. Time with your YPC to give you individual support.
