5 5 14-19 EXTERNAL CHALLENGES A CHANGING LANDSCAPE 16-19 YOs taking quals of limited value Centres rewarded for encouraging easy to pass quals. Reformed 16-19 funding to ensure centres offer study programmes. IN RESPONSE THE GOVERNMENT: Introduced new performance measures 1 2 Raise in participation age (RPA) by 2015 Employer interaction required in delivery/assessment Need to meet future industry and global skills needs Greater use of technology and digital (FELTAG) Success measure to include destinations Work placement required at 16-18 14-19 CHANGES: New rules introduced for Technical Qualifications (all awarding organisations): Overall grading Synoptic Assessment External Assessment One resit opportunity Employer endorsement - KS5 only Employer involvement - KS5 only

Last year only 59% of students achieved the DfE national average floor target KEY STAGE 4 (14 - 16) (L1 &L2) TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS Attendance improves as students tend to engage with subjects they want to study Engagement-students can choose an subject option they are interested in Behaviour improves as students learn new skills Technical awards are level 2 new grades 8-4 Data supports students achieve higher grades in subjects they choose to study
