Raising the bar In 2014, over 130 Y12 boys achieved the increased tariff (8 points) for 6 th Form In 2015, over 140 achieved this threshold. In 2016, the bar was raised again to 10 points.

Raising the bar Year 13 Pupils wishing to re-enter, or join, Campbell College at Sixth Form must demonstrate through their GCSE results that they have the ability to attain 3 good passes at GCE A-Level. In order to be guaranteed entry to Year 13, students will require a minimum of 6 GCSE passes at A*-C, including GCSE English and Mathematics, and a minimum of 10 points *. Courses Entry Requirements 4 AS Levels 7 A* to C grades and a minimum of 20 GCSE points*. Post-16 Choices Important transitional year and all students will have important decisions to make about Post-16 options. Majority of pupils Alternatives available will stay at school, some will go to local Further Education colleges, relatively few take other options. Post-16 choices – key messages Consider all options, including different plans to cover all eventualities. Apply for local Colleges of Further Education by February (it is too late to consider this after GCSE results). Pupils aiming for university after A levels should begin to research potential degree programmes in order to inform A level choice.

Post-16 choices – provision in Year 12 CLG (Careers and Learning Guidance) classes. One-to-one interview with Careers Adviser from NI Careers Service (running from October to March). It is essential that the Careers Research task is submitted this week in preparation for this. Mock Assessment Centre and Interview Skills evening (early February). Additional Post-16 transition meetings with tutors or members of the Careers Team (March).
