Curriculum Offer – Year 12
Students will typically study for 3 qualifications, either at A level or BTEC. Some students will study a combination of the two
A LEVEL New specifications for all subject are now LINEAR –
This means that the final examinations are take at the end of the two year course.
There no longer exists an AS / A2 split , as in previous years
Much greater focus on exam content and preparation – less focus on coursework
BTECs will have a greater focus on coursework and continuous assessment.
They are equivalent qualifications.
Double BTECs require double the teaching time and workload of single BTECs.
IFS Diploma – online examinations Year 12. Must pass to progress to Year 13.
English and Maths resits – Examination only . November 2018 / June Must achieve a Grade 4 or above or will need to resit
Work Experience – Compulsory for all students - July 2019

Timetable
Full Time Student – 3 or more qualifications, enrichment & work exp.
Study periods are for independent study.
Timetabled Enrichment
English and Maths resits are compulsory for students without a minimum of a grade 4 in English or Maths.
November 2018 and June 2019 are the exam dates.
No Grade 4 achieved in current Year 12 will need to resit in Year 13
Period 6 / Twilight sessions, common across many 6th forms
These are not optional.
There is a logistical reason to these, We currently run
35 courses across sixth form.

Year 13 Progression
Internal examinations June / July These will take the place of AS levels.
Poor grades in any subjects will require discussion with Mr Clift / Mr Torrance and the relevant Head of Faculty to ensure students are on suitable courses
Poor Attendance, poor attitude to learning and or a lack of enrichment participation will jeopardise your place in 6th form
You must have a minimum of 3 subjects to study
