Presentation transcript:

* This is going to be a fun and exciting year! I am so glad to have you in my class, and I look forward to getting to know you. * For this class to be successful, I have a few expectations and procedures for you to follow. I can follow all of Mrs. Heard’s classroom expectations!

* Mrs. Heard LOVES good manners. * Please remember to say “please,” “Thank you,” “Yes/no Ma’am.” * Don’t just do this with me, but with your peers as well.

* Never come in the class until Mrs. Heard has opened the door and started to allow students in. * Wait outside the hall in a single file line. * Peace out- stand in the second tile from the wall. * You will also walk like this in the hallway if you are ever “traveling” with Mrs. Heard. (Drills, lunch, etc.)

* You will need to bring the following things with you to class every day: * Yellow folder * Paper * Pencil (NO PENS!) * Reading book/ workbook * Your composition book will stay in the classroom in Mrs. Heard’s filing cabinet.

* You may not go back to homeroom for any forgotten or missing materials. * If you do, you need to ask a neighbor. * If you break a pencil during class, you may TRADE it for one of Mrs. Heard’s pencils. * You may not sharpen your pencil during instruction time. Where are Mrs. Heard’s pencils?

* You have 5 minutes to get materials and use the restroom, but get here as soon as possible. * You must complete the following things as soon as you come in. * Greet Mrs. Heard with a smile or a “hello” at the door. * Fill out your planner and handouts page. * Get your composition book and start on your bellringer.

* There will be a bellringer for you every day. * It will be one of a few things: * Journal * DOL * Quiz * This will always be timed so it is imperative for you to come to class as soon as possible. * This will be done in your comp. book kept in Mrs. Heard’s filing cabinet. * Head every entry with the date.

* You will keep several things in your folder: * Homework (right pocket) * Loose leaf paper ****(left pocket) * Handouts organizer (Mrs. Heard will provide) * Handouts, quizzes, homework will go in brads in the order that you get them.

* When you turn in your work, you will put it in your blue class locker bin located near the front door. * Where are the blue bins? * How do we pass in paper or our comp. books?

* You must label all of your papers properly or YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A GRADE! * Always label your paper in the upper right hand corner if possible. * Heading: * Name * Date * Period

* You are responsible for completing all homework and assessments on time. * You can check for when assessments are due in your planner, on Mrs. Heard’s classroom calendar, and on Mrs. Heard’s website.

* IF this terrible travesty ever occurs, you will have to fill out an entry in the… * NO HOMEWORK BINDER * After 3 entries those lovely people you live with will be called… * At the end of the 6 weeks, entries will be tallied and points will come off of your homework grade.

* If you are absent, you will need to get your make-up work and any handouts you did not receive. * You need to get this after the bellringer if you finish early, at the end of class, or during Flex. * You may get all the information you need from the Absentee Planner located at the back of the room. * This is also where you can get any handouts you did not receive. * Handouts are organized by day in the absentee crate. * Where is the planner? * There should be no need to come to Mrs. Heard unless you are confused about the assignment.

* If I ever need to get your attention during group work, I will ring a bell. * When you hear it, I want you to raise your hand in the air and give me 5! 1. Eyes on speaker 2. Be quiet 3. Be still 4. Hands free 5. Listen

* If you need something during class, you must simply use your hand. * Means you need a pencil or dry erase marker. * Means you need to a kleenex or sanitizer. * Means you need to leave the room… remember that rules

* You will not be allowed to go back to your homeroom for any forgotten materials. * NEVER INTERRUPT A LESSON TO ASK TO GO SOMEWHERE! * After Mrs. Heard gives permission, you must sign out on the hall pass. * Then, put the hall pass back in the zipper pouch and… hurry! * When you return, put the time on the hall pass sign out sheet. * You may not leave unless Mrs. Heard has finished her teaching for the day, and we have started on our activity.

* Mrs. Heard’s desk and surrounding items. *Pencils* * The whiteboard * The TV cart and items on it * Couch and chairs * Rocking chair * The bookshelf and books * Frankie the Fichus (Uncle Frankie) * You may only touch/ use these items when given permission by Mrs. Heard.

* You must ask Mrs. Heard’s permission and have turned in the permission form to borrow one of her books. * Once you have asked, been given permission, and have found a book, put a place holder where the book goes and sign it out in the binder. * You may only keep the book for two weeks. If you need longer, re-check it out through Mrs. Heard. * You will replace any lost or damaged books. * Return books in the crate next to Mrs. Heard’s desk.

* Each class can earn prizes for good behavior. * Staying quiet * Asking good questions * Being on task * Each class starts the day with 5 points. * Points are taken away due to poor behavior. * Examples? * Points will be kept on Mrs. Heard’s bulletin board. * Once your class has met its goal, the whole class will be given a reward. * Free HW pass * Extra credit * Sit where you want * Etc.

* Get out a pencil and paper. * Get ready for instructions. * What do you remember of Mrs. Heard’s expectations and procedures?
