TECHNICAL THEATER MR. CARTER’S CLASSROOM PROCEDURES AND EXPECTATIONS

WELCOME, TIGERS! WE’RE GOING TO HAVE AN EXCELLENT YEAR TOGETHER! WE WILL MEET OUR EXPECTATIONS. THE PROCEDURES WE LEARN TODAY WILL HELP US CREATE AN EFFICIENT AND ORDERLY CLASSROOM.

ARRIVAL TO CLASS WHEN YOU ENTER THE CLASS, REMOVE ANY EARPHONES/HEADPHONES AND PLEASE BE SEATED. PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE CLASS. GET ANY SUPPLIES THAT YOU WILL NEED READY. BY THE TIME THE BELL RINGS YOU SHOULD HAVE STARTED YOUR BELLRINGER ACTIVITY. MOST BELLRINGERS ARE INDIVIDUAL AND SILENT ACTIVITIES.

GENERAL CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS RESPECT: YOURSELF, OTHERS, THE TEACHER, & THE CLASSROOM. ATTENDANCE: BE WHERE YOU ARE WHEN YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THERE. ASK PERMISSION BEFORE MOVING AROUND OR OUT OF THE ROOM. WHEN THE ANNOUNCEMENTS ARE ON ALL TALKING IS TO CEASE IMMEDIATELY.

EXPECTATIONS DURING INSTRUCTION GIVE THE TEACHER, OR ANY OTHER SPEAKER, YOUR FULL ATTENTION. PARTICIPATE IN CLASS DISCUSSIONS. PLEASE WAIT TO BE RECOGNIZED BY THE TEACHER BEFORE YOU BEGIN SPEAKING. DO NOT START ASSIGNMENTS UNTIL THE TEACHER GIVES YOU THE SIGNAL TO BEGIN.

EXPECTATIONS DURING GROUPS THIS CLASS IS HEAVILY BASED ON TEAMWORK AND GROUP PARTICIPATION. WITHIN YOUR GROUP YOU WILL BE ASSIGNED A DUTY. FOR EXAMPLE; DIRECTOR, DESIGNER, PRODUCER ETC. ALL GROUP MEMBERS ARE TO BE FOCUSED ON THE TASK AT HAND. YOU MUST ACTIVELY CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR TEAM.

EXPECTATIONS FOR HOMEWORK MOST HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS WILL REQUIRE USE OF THE INTERNET AND A PRINTER HOMEWORK IS RESEARCHED-BASED. YOU WILL USE WHAT YOU BRING TO CLASS AND APPLY IT TO AN ASSIGNMENT. MOST OF THE TIME YOU WILL HAVE 1-2 DAYS OR A WEEKEND TO GATHER YOUR RESEARCH. HOMEWORK WILL BE CHECKED AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS. FAILURE TO DO HOMEWORK IMPACTS YOUR HOMEWORK GRADE AS WELL AS YOUR DAILY GRADE!

QUIET SIGNAL IF I RAISE MY HAND, YOU ARE TO STOP TALKING, FACE ME, AND ALSO RAISE YOUR HAND UNTIL EVERYONE IN THE CLASSROOM HAS STOPPED TALKING. AFTER SILENCE HAS BEEN ACHIEVED, I WILL THEN I LOWER MY HAND AND GIVE DIRECTIONS. NO EXCEPTIONS

END OF CLASS DISMISSAL THE BELL DOES NOT DISMISS YOU! A FEW MINUTES BEFORE THE BELL I WILL GIVE YOU TIME TO TIDY UP AND PREPARE TO LEAVE. WHEN THE BELL DOES RING, MAKE SURE YOU ARE SEATED AND HAVE YOUR ATTENTION ON ME. I WILL SAY MY FINAL WORDS, THEN GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO LEAVE THE CLASSROOM. “BYE!” THE DOUBLE DOORS NEAR MY OFFICE ARE COMPLETELY OFF LIMITS. DO NOT ENTER OR EXIT THROUGH THEM!

BEHAVIOR DISCIPLINE PROCEDURES 1 ST OFFENSE – (NON)VERBAL WARNING 2 ND OFFENSE – STUDENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE 3 RD OFFENSE - CALL TO PARENTS/SPONSOR/COACH 4 TH OFFENSE - OFFICE REFERRAL

MY PROMISE TO YOU! WE WILL HAVE AN AWESOME CLASS TOGETHER! THESE PROCEDURES AND EXPECTATIONS WILL ENHANCE YOUR LEARNING EXPERIENCE. I WILL GIVE YOU MY VERY BEST EVERYDAY AND ASK THE SAME FROM YOU IN RETURN.
