Leadership and Great Places to Work The first step to making our schools a great place to work begins with Management evaluating their leadership ability and style. We will continue to discuss and train our leaders on transformational leadership. Cadence Education Training Department

What is Transformational Leadership? Style of leadership where the leader is charged with identifying the needed change, creating a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executing the change in tandem with committed members of the group. * It also serves to enhance the motivation, morale, and job performance of your staff through a variety of interactions and activities. *Definition provided by Wikipedia Cadence Education Training Department

Leadership and Teams Leaders face the challenge of building effective teams. The key to effectiveness is hiring well, providing ongoing training and working intentionally at building a team. Understand that team building is more than a bowling night and completing team building activities! Cadence Education Training Department

How? Work with staff to establish a sense of identity and self to the school and the vision of Cadence Education. Be a role model for staff in order to inspire them and raise their interest in the vision for the Company and the school. Challenge staff to take greater ownership for their work, their classrooms and parent relationships. Understand the strengths and weaknesses of each staff member and focus on building staff strengths. Cadence Education Training Department

Our Focus – A Great Place to Work A Great School to Work for will have many of the following characteristics: Staff are motivated individually and externally by the leaders of the school. Staff know the company history, goals and vision. Staff have clear job expectations. There is open and frequent communication. Leaders of the school are trust worthy and transparent. Incentives are personalized for each staff member. Cadence Education Training Department

Breakout Activity Group Discussion  What motivates you in your role as an LTP candidate?  What do you find to be de-motivating? Cadence Education Training Department

School Culture Remember that our work culture reflects what is valued. When you focus on building positive relationships through open communication, you are showing that you value people. You are laying the foundation to develop passionate, loyal staff members! Cadence Education Training Department

Top Reasons Staff are not Motivated Low self confidence Lack of trust in leadership or the company Poor training Dissatisfaction with job Feeling undervalued Little or no feedback from leaders Hiring or retaining the wrong people for the job Cadence Education Training Department

Motivating Staff Ask yourself: “How do I create a culture that taps into what already motivates the staff?” Find out from your staff how they are motivated and how they would like to be acknowledged or rewarded. Just as importantly, find out what de-motivates them and stop doing it if you are! Understand that staff crave respect, success, recognition and admiration. Recognize that laughter and fun on the job makes a difference in the way the job is done! Cadence Education Training Department

Top Six Reasons for Teambuilding 1. To gain dynamic rapport among team members. 2. To stimulate creativity. 3. To discover new ways of strategizing and solving challenges. 4. To appreciate individual differences and strengths. 5. To strengthen teamwork and motivation. 6. To learn and have fun at the same time! Cadence Education Training Department

For Discussion Share ideas that you have found to be successful at your school for team building or motivating staff. As an LTP candidate with Cadence Education, what motivates you? As a group, review the key points of the Transformational Leadership Self-Study Guide. Cadence Education Training Department
