Carver STaR Chart Moving Toward Target Tech for Our 21 st Century Learners

Why Are We Here? Today’s Goal: Discuss Status of Integration of Technology into the Curriculum at Carver Agenda: I.Background: Texas Long Range Plan for Technology and STaR Chart II.Carver’s Current Level of Technology Integration III.Suggested Actions for Continued Improvement

Long Range Plan for Tech The Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology (LRPT), “directly supports the Mission of Texas Public Education by ensuring an engaging, relevant, and future-focused system…preparing each student for success and productivity as a lifetime learner, a world-class communicator, a competitive and creative knowledge worker, and an engaged and contributing member of the emerging global digital society.”Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology (LRPT), LRPT , pg viii

Purpose of STaR Chart Determine progress toward meeting the goals of the Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology, as well as district goalsdistrict goals Assist in measuring efforts to improve student learning through technology use as specified in NCLB, Title II, Part DNCLB, Title II, Part D Identify needs for on-going professional development and raise awareness of research-based instructional goals

STaR Chart Data Collection Teachers are required to complete the STaR Chart survey online annually for federally mandated reporting The annual STaR Chart survey gauges progress toward integrating technology into the school and curriculum Teachers’ scores are averaged and taken into account when principal completes and submits Campus STaR chart to TEA

STaR Chart Key Areas The Texas School Technology and Readiness (STaR) Chart has been developed based on the four key areas of the LRPT: Teaching and Learning Educator Preparation and Development Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support Infrastructure for Technology

STaR Chart Key Area Ratings A teacher’s and campus’s key area ratings fall in one of four categories: RatingScore Range Early Tech6 - 8 Developing Tech9 – 14 Advanced Tech15 – 20 Target Tech

Carver Key Area Ratings Key AreaCategoryRating Teaching & LearningDeveloping Tech13 Educator Preparation & Development Developing Tech12 Leadership, Administration, & Instructional Support Advanced Tech15 Infrastructure for TechnologyAdvanced Tech16 In , Carver staff rated the campus as follows:

The Goal The goal for all campuses in Texas in all four key areas is TARGET TECH

Carver Compared to Target Tech
