Attendance Attendance is vital to student learning! We begin at 8:25 and continue to 3:40 everyday. Send a note the day after an absence so we can mark it “excused” or “unexcused”. If no note within 2 days, the absence is UNEXCUSED (see page 4 in Student Handbook) State law has made attendance part of our school rating.

Lunch Money If you need to add lunch money to the account, you can log onto to prepay. You can also send cash or check with your child to school.

Wednesday Folders Check your child’s H.E.R.O. binder for these each week. These need to be returned on Thursday. Please review & sign the progress report/behavior chart. Please check all notes and keep graded papers. If you have any questions, feel free to write a note in the folder or send us an .

Behavior Behavior expectations: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe Student conduct marks are recorded on the classroom clipboard, which is used to fill in behavior information in Wednesday folders. Students also earn “Dojo points” in each class that they can “spend” on incentives and rewards.

Graded Work Make-Up Work: Students will be given one day for each day of an excused absence to make up missed work at school. Late work: 5 points will be deducted each day late. On the 3rd day, a zero will be recorded (if no work is completed). Students are given ample time to complete assignments before they are considered “late.”

Viewing Grades Online Try visiting the following website to view your student’s grades online:

Extra Credit We do not give extra credit to individual students as a way to raise his/her grade. Please encourage your child to do his/her best on each assignment. Occasionally, we allow a student to redo or make corrections an assignment. In this case, we average the two grades together or add points for corrections to the final grade.

Planners Students are responsible for filling out their planner on Monday for the entire week. Students are given time in class on Monday before announcements to complete this task. If your child forgets to write down the homework or loses their homework sheet, please view our websites. We will update the website weekly to include homework for the week and other valuable information.

Homework Our students will receive a weekly homework sheet. Each week will have one or two assignments for the students to complete. Some assignments are written, while others are activities for your child to do orally or with materials at home. and due back on Friday, while Language Arts homework nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays (this is a suggested schedule).

Homework All homework is due on Friday of each week. Additionally, students should read at least 20 minutes every day and practice addition/subtraction math facts at least 10 minutes daily. They should complete the reading log as they read each night.

STAAR Testing Dates STAAR Math is May 9, 2016 STAAR Reading is May 10, 2016

What Can You Do? Check homework folders – ACCOUNTABILITY! Read with your child and ask them questions about what they have read DAILY. Set up a routine at home for fact practice (at least 10 minutes daily) Subscribe to our teacher websites!
