Arrival/Dismissal Morning Drop-off Reminders: – Drop off in front of school is for Day Care, buses, and special needs students ONLY! – All other students will be dropped off in the side parking lot. If you choose not to wait in line, you MUST park your car and walk your student using the appropriate cross-walks…PLEASE (for your child’s safety) DO NOT allow them to walk alone though the busy parking lot. Dismissal Reminders: – Please have visor tags showing at every pick-up with first name, last name, and grade level. – Please raise your visor or remove the visor sign once your child/children are in the car. – If you don’t have it visible, you will be asked to go to the front office to sign out your student. They will NOT be able to get in the car with you until this is done.

Change in Transportation The BEST way~ Call the office before 2:00 A GOOD way~ E-mail the office or me the night before. My conference time ends at 8:45 so your e-mail may not be seen after that and/or before dismissal. If your child brings a hand written note I MUST receive it before 8:00 when I walk down to the office. Someone in the office will then call you to verify it was written by you

Send a written note to school with child’s name, grade, and teacher as well as an explanation of absence. Student is in charge of making sure they get their missed work from the teacher. When they return to school from being absent, they have two school days to complete missed work. Absences

PBIS – Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Please be aware that your child is hearing common everyday language school-wide. There also is a matrix that goes over our S.O.A.R. expectations for different places across the building.

Volunteering All parents must have a background check completed before being allowed to volunteer for school functions. These are available in your student’s registration packet and online. DPISD or FE Website > Parent > Volunteer forms Get it done early! Field Day is right around the corner!

Water Bottles Water bottles are no longer aloud in the classroom. If they are brought to school they must be put with the lunch kit or away in their backpack.

Classroom Expectations: Students are required to keep a Mathematics Binder and an Interactive Notebook/Spiral. We do our Target Math, daily word problems, take notes and give examples in this binder/notebook. This is to keep them organized and to train them for higher level math classes. Binder/notebook will stay in class unless necessary for homework or to study by. These items MUST be present EVERYDAY in class. Daily assignments are to be completed in class. Mathematics homework will be assigned on Mon-Thurs, due the next day. Homework will be manageable and it will be over a skill previously mastered.

Class Dojo Students can earn points for following classroom expectations Students may lose points for not following classroom expectations Students will keep a running record of points earned and spent Students can exchange points earned for rewards

New District Grading Policy Please note that each student is allowed to Correct/Sign/&Return (CSR) any daily work that is below a 70 only 3 times per nine week grading period. NO Corrections for tests Daily assignments and quizzes are 60% of the grade. Major tests will be 40% of the grade.

Things to Help Your Child Be Successful: Your child NEEDS to be fluent in their multiplication/division facts. Having their facts memorized will greatly benefit them on many different aspects of their math learning. Have Number Talks with your child to help them see how numbers are flexible and that they can be broken down into more simple terms sometimes. Talk about the EVERYDAY use of math. Encourage your child to be a RISK- TAKER at all times and to always TRY every question!

Online Textbook www.pearsonrealize.com Students are given a username and password. This is a great resource to study from and students may have to complete assignments through this website.
