Common Ailments of the Respiratory System Common AilmentsCauseDescription 1. AsthmaTriggered by allergies: dust fumes and other air pollutants, and changes in climate. A condition where a person has difficulty in breathing. It is accompanied by coughing and wheezing sound when breathing out. 2. RhinitisTriggered by allergies: dust fumes and other air pollutants, and changes in climate. Characterized by itchiness in the nasal passage, nasal discharge and sneezing. Characterized by cough that produces a yellow green phlegm, fever accompanied by chills and shortness of breath. The condition may last for several days Abnormal sounds can be heard in the lung using a stethoscope.
