The Circulatory System By Upi and Liann

3 Things the Circulatory System Transports 1.Nutrition ●Protein ●Calcium 1.Oxygen ●Blood Vessels take deoxygenated blood to heart and oxygenate them 1.Carbon Dioxide ●Some carbon dioxide is mixed with the plasma and some is transported as carbaminohemoglobin.

3 Main Organs of the Circulatory System 1.The Heart- The Heart’s job is to pump blood to the whole body, the blood carries the oxygen and the food. 2.Blood Vessels- The blood vessels carry the blood to all of the body. 3.Blood- It transports oxygen and nutrients to the lungs and tissues.

The Main Components of Blood 1.Plasma 2.Red Blood Cells 3.White Blood Cells 4.Platelets

Functions of the Blood 1.Circulation Transportation: It transports and circulates Nutrients throughout the body. 2. Transportation: They also transport oxygen, hormones, and blood cells 3. Regulation: It regulates sugar levels glucose levels etc. 4. Carries oxygen to all of the body

Blood Vessels and their Function 1.Arteries - Carry blood away from heart. 2.Capillaries: Enable exchange of water/chemicals between blood and tissues. 3.Veins: Carry blood from capillaries back to the heart.

Chambers of the heart The 4 chambers of the heart Right ventricle Left ventricle Right atrium/Auricle Left Atrium/Auricle

Circulation Through the Chambers of the Heart Left Ventricle: Oxygenated Blood. Blood comes from the lungs into the left ventricle Left Auricle: Oxygenated Blood. Blood comes from the lungs into the left auricle Right Ventricle: Deoxygenated Blood. Blood comes from the body through the right pulmonary vein and into the right ventricle and goes to the lungs Right Auricle: Deoxygenated Blood. Blood comes from the body through the pulmonary vein and into the right ventricle and goes to the lungs.

Fun Facts 1.If all the blood vessels were laid out in 1 single line, it would be 60,000 miles. 2.Bigger bodies have slower heart rates 3.Physicians followed the wrong model of the circulatory system for 1,500 years 4.A heart can still beat without a body. 5.Red blood cells don’t have a nuclei 6.There are 5.5 liters of blood in your body
