2. The Cardiovascular System Functions: 1. Carries oxygen from your lungs to your body cells 2. Carries nutrients to your cells 3. Removes waste like carbon dioxide 4. Transports cells that attack disease causing microorganisms. Can be thought of as a transportation system.

3. WHY Blue and Red? Blue = blood coming from the body that is low in oxygen. Red = blood coming from the lungs that is high in oxygen

7. Blood Vessels Types: 1. Arteries: Carry blood away from heart. Full of oxygen. 2. Veins: Carry blood from body back to heart. Brings waste for disposal. 3. Capillaries: Small vessels where oxygen and nutrients leave the blood to go to other cells and carbon dioxide and other waste products enter the blood from the cells.

8. Blood is composed of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma.
