Background Complaints from residents in the Nook area about youth disorder/ASB, under age drinking and criminal damage Businesses were consulted to find out if they were willing to participate Partners (Police, Trading Standards and Licensing) were then consulted Linked up with the Off Watch Scheme

Process Meetings took place with Apex about feasibility of radio coverage and costing of the equipment Funding was obtained from the East Shields Multi Agency Problem Solving Group to provide 2 years membership to the scheme Businesses asked to sign up to the scheme and to undertake training on use the equipment 11 businesses currently signed up to scheme

Benefits of Joining ShopWatch Pro Active Crime Prevention Radio Communication including Emergency Alert Increased Employee Security Monthly 'Surgeries' for Feedback and Review with Council and Police Sharing of Local Intelligence Partnership approach both between businesses and with partners

The Launch Shopwatch was officially launched on 9 th December 2008 by the Vice Chair of East Shields Community Area Forum,the Police and Community Services Area Team
