2 Safer Rother Partnership Laid down in Statute by Crime & Disorder Act 1998, Review and Crime and Justice Act 2006, Police Reform Act 2007 Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill 2010 Statutory Partners – Sussex Police, Sussex Police Authority, ESCC, RDC, Primary Care Trust, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, Probation Areas of work: Key responsibilities crime reduction, reduction in fear of crime and reducing offending – specific work around offender management, ASB, Added Value – working together

5 Performance (1) As at 27 th March 2011 Estimated Reduction in Total Crime minus 2.4% approx 97 less crimes (plan year) Target 3% Reduction in crime over last 3 years 1388 fewer crimes Why have we been successful? Focussing on key areas of work brings success Problem Solving and Co-ordination of limited agency resources – adding value Pre Court/sentencing management Partnership Problem Solving system Rent Deposit Scheme Pilot Communication via Blue Tooth and texting Budget for quick response operations Joint work with the Council and other partners has made a real difference e.g. JAG, ASB Housing, LAG, Neighbourhood Panels, Equalities,

7 Current Situation Changes to structure for - Community Safety across East Sussex Police Rother District Council Government Consultation on New Powers and Toolkit for Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Home Office Trial on Anti-Social Behaviour (Case Management and Risk Assessment) Business as usual – less resources Reductions in Crime, ASB & re-offending Improvements in confidence, satisfaction and reductions in fear of crime

8 Funding for SRP from April 2011 Significant reductions: Rother District Council – Salary etc Community Safety Co-ordinator (RDC employee ) and Community Safety Support Officer (SLA across East Sussex) estimate £46,000 for 2010/11 Project funding £12,000 Home Office Community Safety Grant (through ESCC) Community Safety Grant £35,040 BCU Funding – to be confirmed for 1 more year 2010/11: £139,951 Capital £16,016, plus LAA Reward Grant money £46,000

9 What Next Police and Crime Commissioner Enhanced role for Rother District Council and SRP in dealing with Anti-Social Behaviour Crime Reduction Resources – resource intensive families – crime/ ASB Hotspots – early intervention Community Safety Accreditation Scheme IOM (Integrated Offender Management) Community Resolution Communication – good news – confidence More Scrutiny and Higher Expectations
