 Cultural crossroads  Connected to Asia and Africa  Phoenicians lived there  Seaports to Red Sea and Mediterranean  Hebrews settled in Canaan  God promised this land

Torah- first five books of the Hebrew Bible Christians see it as old testament Abraham- father of Jewish people God told him to move his people Hebrews then moved to Egypt

The God of Abraham – Roamed for many years – God watched over them – Hebrews were monotheistic – Belief in one God comes from Greek – Yahweh has power over everything – Not a physical being – No images made of him

Hebrews prayed for protection from enemies God watched over because Abraham promised to obey him God promised to protect him and his descendants Covenant-promise between God and founder of the Hebrews
