How can I help my child at home?

Homework Read daily for 20 minutes & record on the log Study spelling words – Spelling Tests on Friday Practice math facts – both addition and subtraction for automaticity Weekly assignments sent Monday & due on Friday

How is my child graded?

Grading Report card is the same format as K & 1. A printout will go home at the end of the 9 weeks. Tutoring will be offered after school from 3:20-4:00 on Tuesdays for RELA and Thursdays for Math. We will contact you to schedule if necessary. Fall Conferences will be on or around October 28 & 29 (ER Days)

What will my child’s schedule be?

A Day in 2 nd Grade 7:50-10:30 Reading, Writing and Word Study ** Students will be marked tardy by the teacher from 8:00-8:15.** ** Students will have snack at 9:30. Please send a healthy and easy snack for your child. ** 10:30-11:10 Switch classes and begin Math, Science and Social Studies 11:10-11:30 Lunch 11:30-11:50 Recess 11:50-12:10 Bear Time 12:10-1:15 Math, Science and Social Studies continued with Mrs. Seay ** Students will have snack at 1:00. Please send a healthy and easy snack for your child. ** 1:15- 2:05 Specials 2:05-3:00 Math, Science and Social Studies continued with Mrs. Seay 3:00-3:15 Return to homeroom (Ms. Wildman) and prepare for dismissal.

Is there anything else to know?

At lunch, parents may eat with their child only at the middle table. Students may rejoin the class to go to recess as parents check out in the office. For birthdays, parents may send in a special treat for the class to enjoy at lunch if they want. The birthday student can pass it out to their classmates. Ice Cream is available for purchase from the cafeteria.
