Fossas Did you know that fossas are in the IUCN group, that means their rare and endangered.

Physical Characteristics A fossa looks like a cat, dog, mongoose, mountain lion mixed. They can grow to be 3 feet tall and 6 feet long. A fossa has a reddish, brown, or black coat.

Habitat Fossas live in only one place in the hole world on Madagascar. Fossas live on the ground or in trees. Fossas try to stay away from civilization.

Adaptions Fossas have retractable claws like cats. Fossas can weigh up to 20 lbs. Fossas have territory of 10 miles.

Food Fossas eat almost every thing like lemurs, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, insects, eggs and many other small animals. They also eat fruit. They hunt during the day and during the night.

Their Young The female has two cubs at a time some times three. When the cubs are for months old they leave their dens. Fossas can’t open their eyes until their 2-3 weeks old.

Interesting Facts Fossas are fast flexible mammals that can hang from their tale.
