4. The Animal’s Body A female lion can’t grow a mane but a male can. A mane can be light, reddish brown, and black. The mane protects it from bites and scratches from the head and neck. Completely crouching down staying stiff in the tall grass, lions are almost invisible because of their yellowish gray fur.

5. The Animal’s Habitat Lions live in groups called prides. Each have there own territory. The bigger the pride the bigger the territory. There are different kinds of lions. Some live in India. They use grasslands to hide from other animal.

6. The Animal’s Living Habits All of the cats have very good eyesight, and hearing. They usually hunt at night because it’s hard for their prey to spot them. Their whiskers help them move in the dark. They are very sensitive and warns the lion from anything in its place. In the day, lions sleep or rest 21 hours. They will flop down back to back or cuddle with a neighbor next to them. A lion likes to doze in a tree branch. Till the male is full he shares with the cubs. Lions have sharp teeth instead of flat ones like humans, so they swallow their food in chunks. They can eat 50 pounds of meat at once. Since caching dinner can be so hard, lions don’t get to eat every single day.

7. Ending Paragraph Lion belongs in the cat family, they are mammals. I picked this lion because I like cats. There are many different things I didn’t know about lions but now I do. I didn’t know that cubs play but they actually are practicing to fight.
