3. LIFE SPAN Lions life span is up to10 – 14 years old in the wild.

4. SIZE A male lion can grow to be about 1.25 meters tall and almost 2.5 meters long. On the other hand, a female lion doesn’t grow to be as big as the male lion. The female lion grows to be about 1 meter tall and 2 meters long.

5. SCIENTIFIC NAME Panthera leo is the scientific name for lions.

6. WEIGHT A male is 420 lbs. A female is 280 lbs.

7. HOME Most lions live in Africa.

8. BEHAVIOR OF LIONS Lions rest for about 20 hours a day. They are social. They live in a group called a pride, which is made of their family. The female does almost all of the hunting. The male protects the pride and their territory. They cuddle and play with each other. They also fight, especially about food.

9. DIET Lions eat every thing in sight that is meat. They also eat grass to balance their weight. Lions gets the prey, but the others don’t sit there and do nothing. They protect the young from predators.

10. IS IT ENDANGERED? Lions are very endangered. By habitat loss, and loss of prey. Lions are also hunted by humans.

11. FUN FACT You can hear a lion roar from 5 miles away
