Chateau le Grande Romaine French Residential Trip rd – 6th March

Staff Mrs Dieppe Mr James Mrs Marshall Miss Higgs Mrs McDonnell Between us we have over 50 years experience of St Joseph’s residential visits. This is our first visit to Chateau Grande Romaine at Lesigny near Paris

Groups 44 children (Split into 5 Groups) 5 adults Ratio 1:9 Guidance from Hampshire County Council is max 1:12

Safety Risk Assessments – school, county and PGL. We have been approved by county. Safety is the most important thing to us. All PGL staff are qualified to run activities. There is twenty four hour security.

First Aid and Medicine There is first aid on-site and the site has links with local facilities. Mr James and Mrs McDonnell are trained in Emergency First Aid. Mrs McDonnell will take care of any medical needs based on Medical Forms handed in. We will give one copy to PGL, one we keep with us and one we leave in school.

Behaviour Policy Children will be spoken to regarding expectations. Level of expectations is exactly the same as at school on all aspects of behaviour. It is very important, when we are away, that we can trust the children.

Before the Trip Money – There will be plenty of opportunities to spend pocket money! E20 Bags – Children to pack themselves. Written kit list. Make bag distinctive and fully labelled. Children must be able to carry bag. Also smaller rucksack for day activities and travel. Kit list – Casual comfortable clothes, warm jumper/sweatshirt, warm jacket (waterproof recommended), two sets of footwear, tracksuit bottoms/leggings, T shirts, nightwear, wash kit and a towel. (NB. bedding is provided). Please do not pack anything that is valuable. Please do not bring spray deodorant as these can set off the fire alarms. (Roll ons are best)

Phones – No mobile phones please. Please do not expect a phone call. Alarm clocks – Children will not need an alarm clock as they will be woken by our very own alarm clock in the form of Mrs Dieppe. Toys/ sweets – Again please, nothing valuable. Sweets will be cheaper to bring but can be bought at the tuck shop at the chateau. Post Cards – Stamps and post cards can be bought at the tuck shop, but again please don’t expect one! Medical forms – if not returned can you please do so. Birthdays – Please let me know. Packed Lunch – Your child will need a packed lunch for the day of departure.

Accommodation The two accommodation blocks have been renovated in February There are two accommodation blocks called Seine and Marne. We have requested to be put into Marne which has rooms for 4 children. All children and staff will be accommodated in the same corridor of the same block. Entry to the block through numerical key pad. All rooms have doors which can be locked from inside. Teachers have master keys to enter rooms. Every child will have at least one of their chosen friends with them. Children will find out these details on morning of trip. Every effort is made for the children to be with all their friends.

The Canteen Breakfast and dinner are served in the canteen Continental breakfast with croissants, bread, fruit, fruit juices, milk and hot chocolate. Evening meal. A choice of 2 hot meals, a cold option and a vegetarian option. Green and blue trays for special dietary needs.
