Year 3 and 4 Condover Hall Residential 2016 Parent Information Evening – Tuesday 23 rd February 2016

 Children will need a packed lunch for the day we travel. This will be eaten when we arrive.  Ensure your child has a refillable water bottle.  Children may bring a small amount of spending money as there is a small shop which sells t shirts, tuck shop items etc. – no more than £10 please. This should be in a named purse/wallet, which will be kept safe by RJS staff and given out at appropriate times. It would also help if this was in change - £1 and 50p’s.  Children are not permitted to bring electronic items – mobile phones, tablets, iPods etc. If these items are stolen, RJS and Condover Hall cannot be held responsible.  Rooming and day groups are currently being organised. Children will be given a request slip this week to help arrangements. Key Information

General Health and Safety

Kit List  We have sent home a kit list before February Half term. If you have lost or did not receive one, there are extra copies at the back of the hall. You may also ask your child’s teacher for another copy.  The children will get muddy – please do not send ‘best’ clothes. We recommend a pair of joggers for each day and a pair of comfortable clothes for evening activities. Jeans are not advised. Children also need a sturdy pair of shoes for day activities and a pair of shoes to wear indoors.  It may be cold, particularly at night – please send hats, scarves and gloves and a pair of warm pyjamas.  It could be hot – be prepared and send a small tube of sun cream.

 Please send a packed lunch on the day we travel. This will need to be in a bag which can be carried on your back.  Bring a water bottle to carry around during the day – there will be opportunities to fill it up after activities. You will need it!  3 meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner. These are hot, cooked meals with options for vegetarian and vegans. Condover Hall are aware of any allergies.  Children are also given the chance for hot drinks after activities to help warm up. Food

Activities  The activity requests have been sent and we are awaiting our final activity allocations. As soon as we know, we will let you all know.  We have requested: body zorbing, tunnelling, climbing, bush crafts and buggy boarding.  Night activities: the leaders will continue activities into the evening: camp fire skills, laser tag, protect the egg etc.  On arrival, we will take part in a variety of tasks until our rooms are ready. These will be led by RJS staff and will give children the chance to get to know their teams.

 Dorms are split into male and female floors and will have members of staff from RJS on each one.  Room sizes vary from 4 children to 6 children.  Children will be able to request 3 people to share with.  Each room will have their own toilets and showers ‘ensuite’.  Bedwetting – we will speak to children as necessary and set out arrangements to ensure they do not feel embarrassed. Options include: getting ready before other children and designated adults to check in with. Some children have asked if they can be in rooms with other children who they feel comfortable with in case they have an accident.  Staff will change beds if necessary – please don’t worry! Accommodation

 We are aiming to keep a ‘blog’ of activities whilst we are at Condover. The aim is for the children to write about their day/ activities and to let you know how we are getting on – subject to the Wi-Fi working of course!  These blog entries will be posted onto the Condover Hall information page (Class Pages – any Y3 or 4 page – Condover Hall Residential). Keeping in Touch

Any Questions?  We will post any information about the residential onto our school website - please look at the Y3 or Y4 class pages on our website: www.ripley-jun.derbyshire.sch.uk  Also, take a look at the Condover Hall website, where you will see photographs of activities and find information about accommodation and activities. http://www.condoverhall.com/home
