The discovery Programme
The Discovery programme is Kingswood’s educational programme. It began in 2006 and is packed with cross-curricular learning opportunities along with a balance of high and low adrenaline adventure activities that are guaranteed to stretch young muscles as well as young minds!

What your child needs to bring
For the journey to the Isle of Wight Packed lunch (in a disposable bag) Drinks (no glass bottles or cans please) Kit list to tick off items when packing Toiletries (no aerosols e.g. deodorant / hairspray – they set off the fire alarms in the dorms) Large plastic bag for dirty clothes Lip balm (the air can be cold and salty!) Bath towel Disposable cameras only (These are NOT covered by insurance) please label with your child’s name) No valuable items (e.g. mobile phones, jewellery, mp3 players, kindles etc) Pocket money (No more than £10 in pound coins for easy administration. Please give to Mr Laws in a clearly labelled bag morning of departure)

Insurance Details The Kingswood Centre has a personal liability cover for school visits The school has a general policy with the County Council which includes residential visits. Personal belongings are not covered by the centre so parents may wish to take out a small policy if desired. (No Valuables)

Accommodation The accommodation arrangements are as follows:
Dormitories are situated within easy reach of the main facilities The children will be expected to make their beds and keep their rooms tidy. Room allocation will be made prior to departure. BEDTIME: 9.30pm LIGHTS OUT: 9.45pm(!)

Health Details Please let Mr Laws know of any new dietary/medical information. All medication must be labelled with your child’s name and the required dosage. Hand all medication to Mr Laws prior to departure. Travel sickness: Arrangements can be made for the seating of pupils who suffer from travel sickness. Please give your child travel sickness medication in advance of the coach trip ONLY if they are used to taking it. There are qualified first aiders at the centre on 24 hour call

Code of Conduct The pupils represent the school, their families and the region so the highest standards of behaviour are expected during our stay at the Kingswood Centre. To gain the maximum benefit from the week, the pupils will need to listen very carefully and follow instructions from their group leaders.
