Year 4 Cuffley Camp Trip Wednesday 21st June – Friday 23rd June

2 Welcome and introductions

3 Trip details Arrive at school for normal registration time on Wednesday 21st June. Leave from school at 9.30am Return to school at around 2.30pm on Friday 23rd July. Children travel to and from the site by coach. Journey time about 40 minutes

4 Location and facilities
Near Potters Bar. 40 minutes drive by coach. Site owned and run by Herts County Council. Site includes purpose built dining room, toilets and showers blocks, classrooms. The site includes several ‘villages’ of tents set within woodland. The Grove will have sole use of three of the village sites

5 Health and safety Site is surrounded by perimeter fence
Barrier at main entrance All visitors must be arranged in advance Signing in/out procedure All adults on site must wear identity badges Adult/child ratio 1:10 On site activities are led by trained staff Grove risk assessments for all school led activities

6 Where do the children sleep?
Each class will be in a village made up of 6-8 tents, 2 staff cabins, a kitchen shelter, an overnight toilet and a classroom shelter. Tents have a raised wooden platform Each child has a waterproof mattress The children from Year 4 will stay on 3 adjacent village sites. Nearer the time children request who they share with and we ensure children are with a friend.

7 What food will be available?
All food will be provided. Packed lunches are provided for each of the 3 days with a choice of sandwich, which the children select prior to the trip. Hot breakfast and evening meal are provided in the new purpose built dining room. Children also select their evening meal before we go. Please talk to us about any dietary issues as we can accommodate these. We provide drinks and snacks between meals. Food is plentiful and of a very high quality!

8 Children’s individual needs
Cuffley are used to dealing with any specific medical dietary requirements (Please let us know) Teachers are aware of general health needs of the children (allergies / asthma) Parents complete a form detailing other health / individual needs Medication is passed on to the teacher on the morning of the trip and administered as instructed on the form

9 What activities will the children do at Cuffley camp?
Assault course Shelter building Tracking Problem solving Art in the environment Sport/games Fire building Tent inspections Bug hunting Campfire River walk Free time around the village site

10 Equipment Sleeping bag, pillow, blanket
Old clothes, wellies, waterproof jacket / trousers Torch Cup for hot chocolate Water bottle All items must be named A full kit list will be provided nearer the time.

11 Cost Cost of the trip will be dependant on numbers, (we expect the cost to be around £113.) This includes all food, transport, accommodation, activities led by centre staff. Deposit of £20 requested by Friday 31st March, a letter detailing payments was e mailed 2 weeks ago.
