This is a great communication about our week! Wish List: Snack (Thank you for the donations!)—many students do not bring snack each day so we go through it quickly! What We’re Learning : Reading and Language: This week we continued to talk about citizenship, use 6 box organizers, and really focused on Beginning, Middle, and End. Writing: We are revisiting capital letters, punctuation, and complete sentences before we move into narratives. Math: This week we have been reviewing a multitude of addition and subtraction concepts. We are using ten frames to add to 10. We added the 100’s board and more with 10 more, 10 less, 1 more and 1 less. We continued working on this, but added the communicative property and even and odd. Word Study: This week we worked on nouns, verbs, and began with adjectives. We will be continuing with these as we add synonyms, antonyms, in the coming Rachel Thorp 2013

2 nd Grade Shenanigans : Thank you for everyone who helped us with our Attractions book fundraiser! It was great success. If you are interested in volunteering for the Fall Festival or Book Fair, please return the correct form or a note about volunteering. They could use lots of help! Please also consider donating some of the requested materials as well! They need lots of things too! Don’t forget about our book fair purchasing times coming up!! Please consider supporting our school through this wonderful way to keep reading! Please be sure you are cleaning out your students Friday folders and reading their work inside. There are also many papers from the office or events in the community that may interest you in students Friday folders! Please remember to respond and return your students’ home school journals. Important Dates: 9/21 Second PE with Mr. Teachey 9/22 Book Fair Purchase Day (during school) 9/23 Progress Reports 9/24 Book Fair Family Night until 5pm 9/25 Highland Elementary Fall Festival (Book Fair will also be open during Fall Festival) I have made an attempt to keep events and announcements updated on our class webpage, so please feel free to visit when needed. My goal is to have that page as easy assess for dates/announcements/resources. It’s a work in progress!
