1 class news Mrs. Pigman’s A Note from the Teacher
Week of December 10th A Note from the Teacher What’s Happening in... I have noticed that our class has been struggling with recognizing and reading sight words. This week, I sent home a yellow sheet with all of our sight words for this year. Please make flashcards and review sight words with your child daily. This will greatly help with their reading and writing. As the weather begins to get colder, please make sure your child dresses appropriately. We go outside for recess as long as the wind-chill isn’t below 32 degrees. Please review numbers 0-20 with your student. Please clean out your child’s folder daily so you don’t miss any important papers. Continue reading with your child every night. The paper books are a great choice because they are on level with your child and contain our sight words and repetitive text. Work with your child on their writing. Have them work on writing sight words correctly and stretching out unfamiliar words. Language Arts – This week we talked about animals. We also worked on writing complete sentences with naming and writing parts. Sight Words – you, what, then Math – This week we continued practicing solving addition and subtraction equations. We also worked on ten frames.
