Welcome to 3 rd Grade!

Dress Code ● See Student Handbook for dress code guidelines. ● Be sure to dress for the weather outside. We will have recess unless it is extremely cold, windy, or wet. ● Accessories can be a distraction. Please leave them at home.

P. E. ● 3-A goes to P.E. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. ● Students must wear tennis shoes in the gym. ● Girls need to wear shorts underneath dresses and skirts. ● If students have an injury that prevents them from participating, they must have a note from parent or doctor.

Attendance ● Please call the office if your student will be absent. ● Doors open at 7:30, and students are released to come to the classroom at 7:53. They are to be in their seats ready to learn at 8:00. ● Please send a Dr.'s note when possible. This will save you a lot of time and headache should your child have multiple absences. ● If your child is not at school, I can't teach them! It's also important to establish good work and attendance habits early.

Morning Procedures ● Doors open at 7:30. Please do not drop your child off before that time. They will be outside unsupervised! ● Third grade students are to go to the Library until they are dismissed to go to class (7:53). ● Breakfast is served each morning in the classroom. ● 3A students turn in their Take Home Folders, pick up morning work and breakfast. ● Announcements and pledges start promptly at 8:00. ● Morning work and breakfast are to be completed by 8:15.

Behavior Report ● Behavior Reports are sent home EACH day in the Take Home Folder. ● Visual and verbal reminders are given in class. Yellow is warning, red is note home on Behavior Report. ● Please initial ONLY if I have written a note for that day. ● I will call you or visit with you after school if problems escalate during the day. ● Good behavior=Paws ● Paws all week=$1 Eagle Buck! ● Positive behavior is rewarded with tickets and Eagle Bucks in my class!

Homework ● Students will have homework Mondays-Thursdays. ● Homework will usually be a math paper and to study spelling words for test on Friday. ● Spelling lists go home on Mondays. ● Any work not completed during the day may go home for homework. ● Any papers with a grade below 70 may be corrected for homework and turned back in for a 70. ● Students MUST read EVERY night! Reading is a very important key to success!

Take Home Folders ● Blue Take Home Folders will go home EVERY day. ● Two pockets inside: “Return to School” and “Keep at Home” ● Graded papers, announcements, etc. will be in the “Keep at Home” side. Please clean this out every night. ● Behavior Report, homework, and any papers that require a signature will be in the “Return to School” side. ● I check folders every morning. This is a great communication between parent and teacher. Please check your child's folder daily. This is also a good place to put any notes that you may have for me or that I may have for you! ● Check the very back pocket for our weekly classroom report.

Conferences ● My conference time is daily from 9:20-10:15...except for Thursdays due to Team Meetings. ● After school conference times are Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:15-3:45 or by appointment. ● It's usually a good idea to call or e-mail me to set up an appointment so that we don't miss each other due to me tutoring or being in a meeting. ● Parent Conference Day is set for October 11.

Afternoon Pick-Up ● We exit out of the front cafeteria doors. ● Students are to wait with me until they see their ride (unless walking home). ● Students who are not picked up by 3:15 will wait on the sidewalk by the main doors with an adult.

Tutoring ● Current tutoring times are Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:15-3:45. ● Tutoring groups will be ever changing to meet the needs of my students. You will receive a letter if I need to see your child in tutoring. ● You will also receive a letter if your child is dismissed from tutoring.

Model Classroom ● We are a model classroom this year! ● SmartBoard to be installed in October! ● Technology will be integrated into lessons daily. ● Teachers from across the district will be visiting our classroom!
