TRADE UNION EDUCATION BACKGROUND: Education is Fundamental human Right. Trade Union Education is essential for all the Unions in the present rapidly changing society. As one of the causes for weakness in Trade Union Movement is Illiteracy…… Now it is time to……….. Contribute to Knowledge Development Unionism to adapt Professional Standards Time to improve the image of Trade Union Education Trade Union Education is Family Education

Priority Problems: Literacy rate in India - 66% Men – 76.9% Women 54.5% Delayed Distribution of information from International and National Level to Ground levels. Active Participation of Educated Youth is Lacking Less information to Women(engaged with Domestic Work) Global Context of Trade Union Elements, not being Emphasized in presentations of Trade Union education Floor Level workers are not aware of “what’s Trade Union Education?”

DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES: Concept of CONTINUOUS LEARNING Improve methods for Effective Education Modernizing Trade Union Education Compulsory Trade Union Education for all Members IMMEDEIATE OBJECTIVES : 1. Facilitate Dissemination of Information – Globalized by ITC-ILO 2. Organize Local level Programmes on “Role of Trade Union Education” 3. Emphasize the fact that Educated Trade Union Employees are highly valued. 4. Trade Union Education to Women – Build Confidence and Raise Awareness

ACTIVITIES: List out the Skilled and Educated Workers-Take Initiative to deliver the Information Choosing means of Education: 1.Organize the programme keeping in view of High Labour Force (Low Skilled) 2.Education on Urgent Issues – Trade Union areas of Interest 3.Mode of presentation-Bilingual(Local language) 4.Presenting topics – Labour Laws, Worker’s Rights. 5.Preparing papers on- Sexual harrasment-No-Voilence to Women 6.Involve Local Women Organisations-Self Help Group Representatives to deliver the message…. And…………

Using Audio-Visual Aids Conduct programmes in Women Friendly Environment Organize Education programmes Especially on Calender Days which are Ear-marked for Women Encourage group to Exchange views and share Experiences. Evaluation: 1. Questionnaires that reveal, to what extent the group has understood the topic.
