2 Country Situation Review: Group Work 1 (discuss country wise but present a regional picture)
List the major changes that have affected (positively or negatively) the employment situation, workers & Trade Unions. Are there any minimum rights/standards applicable to all workers in your country? What are the main shortcomings of the labour laws in your country? What are the ‘means’ available to unions to enforce workers rights (especially rights to organize & collective bargaining)? What are three main priorities of Trade Unions in your region?

3 Group Work 2: Reforming national labour policies for promotion of Decent Work
In order to promote Decent Work for workers, what could be the 3-4 main demands of trade unions in your country? List them under the following headings: Fundamental rights at work and international labour standards Better opportunities for women & men to secure decent employment & income Social protection for all Strengthening social dialogue

4 Group Work 2: Decent Work Country Programmes (DWCPs)
Why are DWCPs important and why do they affect Unions? How can process of participation of TUs in DWCP be improved? What priorities should be there in DWCPs? (list key areas/issues that are important for workers and unions in your country) How can ILO assist to build trade union capacities to participate and implement DWCP?

5 Group Work 3: Union responses to precarious employment
What kind of employment/jobs would you call ‘precarious’? What rights does the labour law provide for contract-casual/ agency workers? What initiatives are the unions taking for workers in precarious jobs? (Give examples union initiative for organizing, social protection/security, any other initiative) What is the union response to employment flexibility demand of the employers?

6 Capacities needed in the Unions
Look at union structures and current capabilities. What can be done in regard to – Information collection & research capability Improving union capacity to promote informed actions, including advocacy? Deliver better services to members? Improve education & training work? Supporting workers jobs and job prospects? Improve its role in providing social protection of workers? Organizing initiatives? Social dialogue and Collective bargaining Meeting needs of women and youth
