Health and safety (H&S) Portakabin Corporate Social Responsibility includes H&S policies Health and safety a key consideration for sale or hire of modular accommodation E.g. ensuring a safe environment for children in school buildings Overall responsibility for H&S rests with the Board of Directors Ensures that effective H&S practices are in place Health and safety is also everyone’s responsibility Training vital to ensure everyone understands what is expected of them H&S actively promoted through a diverse working culture

H&S legislation Under Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employees’ responsibilities include: Taking reasonable care of their own health and safety Taking reasonable care not to put fellow employees and members of the public at risk Co-operating with the employer, following company’s H&S policies

H&S responsibilities at Portakabin In line with HSAWA 1974, Portakabin has established policies for: Ensuring that protective equipment is properly used/looked after Reporting accidents/incidents/near-misses Using the correct tools and equipment in line with training and instructions Co-operating with any investigation designed to improve health and safety Abiding by local rules and wearing appropriate protective equipment Knowing emergency procedures at each location Promoting the company’s commitment to H&S at all levels Providing appropriate H&S training relative to individual roles

Implementing H&S at Portakabin Risk policy Setting objectives/targets to improve standards All employees take ownership of H&S ‘Open door’ policy on alerting H&S issues Reporting accident, incident and near-misses Risk identification Risks documented in risk register Safety procedures put in place to reduce or limit risks Training H&S part of induction for all new employees Updates for change of job or equipment Measuring & monitoring ‘Aim for zero’ incidents Regular checks Use of measures such as accident reports, working days lost
