INTRODUCTION  Our senior project this semester will involve complete development of a theoretical medical building.  We have completed the floor plan drawings and elevation drawings using AutoCAD, building and fire codes, the site location, and began the preliminary building estimates.  The building will be 2,378 square feet  Rooms  Waiting Room  Play Room  Restroom  Utility Room  Break Room  Reception Room  X-Ray Room  Processing Room  Ambulatory Room  Doctor Office  Administration Office  Nurse Office  3 Exam Rooms

FINALIZED DRAWINGS  Floor plan  15 rooms  41’x58’  2,378 square feet

FIRE CODES  The fire codes came from the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code booklet.  Chapter 26: New Building Occupancies  Section 26-1: General Requirements   Section 26-2: Means of Egress Requirements       Section 26-3: Protection  

ORIGINAL LOCATION  Hammond, LA  Zoning: Commercial  Corner of E. University Ave. and N. Cherry St.  5.5 acres for $250,000  This location will not be used  To close to a busy railroad  The adjacent neighborhood was to close to the property

NEW LOCATION  New location is on Professional Plaza  Near downtown Hammond and I-12 interstate  Two adjacent lots  0.5 acres for $99,000  0.75 acres for $125,000  Total lot size and price  1.25 acres  $224,000

PRELIMINARY BUILDING ESTIMATE  $125 - $150 per square foot  Based on similar buildings and within the same region  Building materials only  Does not include equipment, decorations, etc  Preliminary estimate cost: $297,290 - $356,700
