Foundation Stage Holly Class - Miss Tittershill and Mrs Roseveare Maple Class – Mrs Geeson We will be supported in Reception by Mrs Nicholson, Mrs Gray, Mrs Smyth and Mrs Shaw.

A day in the life of a Reception child...

The day begins at 8.55am For the first week, our new children will be having a staggered start to school. The Reception classrooms will be open from 8.45am. From Friday 18 th September onwards, we will collect the children from the Reception gates on the main playground.

Learning Challenges Throughout the day, the children take part in small group reading, writing and maths challenges with their teacher / teaching assistant. They also have opportunities to work independently, applying the skills that they have learnt, in our varied learning challenge areas.

Structured and Independent play Learning in Reception takes place through engaging with activities both indoors and outside. Playtime – 11.10am The children are provided with a piece of fresh fruit each day – bananas, apples, pears, satsumas, tomatoes, carrots or raisins. You are very welcome to send your child with their own choice of fresh or dried fruit / vegetables in a named bag / pot. Please also send a named water bottle every day. Milk is available (free until aged 5) and will need to be purchased online via the website.

Lunch Time pm All EYFS and KS1 children are entitled to a free school meal (see form in your starter pack). The children will eat together in the main hall. Both Reception classes have their own designated mid-day supervisor. The rest of the lunch break is spent outside in the playground. If it is raining the children play in their classrooms. Both classes have timetabled opportunities to play on the Trim Trail each week.

School trips, outings and visitors These are a fantastic way of gaining experiences, improving confidence and social awareness. Some of this years exciting opportunities: - Space centre - Walk in the village - Fire engine and firemen - Local policeman - Local vets and their pets!
