“A Bit More On The Left” Getting Students to Think About Their Learning  REFLECTION: Use Guiding Prompts: What are you curious about? What would you like to test? What was the main idea? What are the important details to remember? How does this relate to your life? What don’t you understand? Connect what you learned to something you already know

Getting started - Step 1: My Name My Grade On the cover, write your name and period #. Decorate with pictures of science and anything that represents you.

Step 2:  Starting with the first page, number the first 25 pages. Numbers should be small and at the top outside corner of every page. Every page must have date, Title, and pg # 13 2 Cover of Notebook

Page 1 Title:Author’s Page Write a mini biography of yourself Draw at least two pictures to illustrate something about you using color!

Step 3: At the top of pages 2 & 3 write ISN Scoresheet & ISN Grading Rubric Divide each page into 3 columns, date, description, page #. ISN Grading Rub ric st Q. Table of Contents Date Title pg #Date Title Page # 2 ISN Scoresheet

Step 4 : Prepare pages 6 and 7 the same as previously done but for 2 nd Quarter Table of Contents.

Step 5:  Prepare page 8  Title it Left side (output)  Glue in the Output info sheet

Example of communicating with others: REFLECTION QUESTIONS: What are you curious about? What would you like to test? What was the main idea? What are the important details to remember? How does this relate to your life? What don’t you understand?

Step 6:  Prepare page 9  Title it Right Side (Input)  Glue in Input info sheet

Step 7:  Prepare page 10  Title it Classroom Policies  Glue on the far left side only  Place on page so you are able to read both the front and back

Step 8:  Prepare page 9  Title it Lab Safety Acrostic  Write an Acrostic for LAB SAFETY  Prepare page 10  Title Lab Safety Rules  Glue in Safety Rules

Graphic Organizers There are 10 graphic organizers posted on the wall above the board. At times you will be allowed to choose one or I will direct you which to use. These are all acceptable.
