Junior English Options English III/APUSH yearlong on A-B days called Combined Studies. English III and APUSH as stand alone classes in regular 90 minute block classes. Student could have one in the fall and one in the spring term, or the student might have both in the same term. English III AP and USH CP. English III CP and USH AP.

Advisement for your student Guidance Counselors meet individually with each student at MHS to facilitate registration each year. At this time, counselors review such things as graduation requirements, four year plan, college advisement, ACT/SAT, and other useful information.

Course Requirements Physical Education & Wellness Wellness 1 credit Physical Education.5 credit The Physical Education requirement may be met by substituting an equivalent time of physical activity in other areas such as… Marching band, cheerleading, interscholastic athletics, or other school sponsored sports.

Course Requirements… Fine Arts & Foreign Language Fine Arts 1 credit Foreign Language 2 credits (must be in the same foreign language) The Fine Arts and Foreign Language requirements may be waived for students who are sure they are not going to attend a University. They must be replaced with 3 electives which enhance and expand the elective focus area. Students who waive this requirement must take Senior Transition.

Focus Areas All students must meet the state’s requirement of three courses in one focused area of study. Focus area courses must be in addition to the minimum state requirements in each area. Exceptions are AP and Dual Enrollment Courses.

Graduating with Distinction Students will be recognized as graduating with “distinction” by attaining a B (3.0) average and completing at least one of the following….

Graduating with Distinction Earn a nationally recognized industry certification Participate in at least one of the Governor’s Schools Participate in at least one of the state’s All State musical organizations Be selected as a National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist Attain a score of 31 or higher composite score on the ACT Attain a score of 3 or higher on at least two advanced placement exams Earn 12 or more semester hours of transcripted postsecondary credit.

Graduate with Honors Students who score at or above all of the subject area readiness benchmarks on the ACT will graduate with Honors. The ACT benchmarks are: English 18 Math 22 Reading 22 Science Reasoning 23

Pre-requisites and Course Applications Please be aware that some courses require a pre-requisite class and/or an application for the course..

Schedule Changes CHOOSE CAREFULLY! The master schedule is based on original selections. Limited schedule changes will be available.

On-line registration: February 8 th - March 4th. Course request verification will be mailed to parents the last week of March. Counselors are available to meet with parents beginning April 1.
