Main Points World War 1 began in Europe in 1914 Germany and Austria-Hungary went to war with Britain, France, and the Russian Empire America remained neutral for 3 years, and entered the war because of the German submarine warfare Americans wanted to “make the world safe for democracy”

What started The War After large diplomatic troubles in the Balkans the Germans marched on Belgium The official start of the war was August, 1914 On Tuesday August 4th Britain gave Germany an ultimatum to remove their military operations against Belgium by midnight.
