CPS – two types of quizzes Verbal Question sets in CPS No Prep Time Prep Time Before Class Check for understanding midway through a lesson Keep data or be able to review individual responses

Verbal Quizzes Ask question orally or display another way No grade recorded Best use – get a pulse on where your students are…

Prepared Questions Enter questions in CPS software. Write your own or copy and paste. Right and Wrong Answers, multiple choice, true false… Teacher led or student led Can be recorded in grade book or printed out in various reports

Prepare Engage Report Basics Tour > Creating a Database > Creating a Class > Creating Questions > Engaging a Lesson > Adding PPT… > Fastgrade Lesson > ExamView > Practice

In “My Documents,” create a folder for your databases – CPS Databases? Open CPS Create your database Structure your database in the way it makes sense to you (folders for each class, subject, etc.) Basics Tour > Creating a Database > Creating a Class > Creating Questions > Engaging a Lesson > Adding PPT… > Fastgrade Lesson > ExamView > Practice

Make sure you’re on the “Prepare” tab Create the class first and then create students Basics Tour > Creating a Database > Creating a Class > Creating Questions > Engaging a Lesson > Adding PPT… > Fastgrade Lesson > ExamView > Practice

Still in the “Prepare” tab Choose question type. Add graphics if you choose. Be sure to save each question. Basics Tour > Creating a Database > Creating a Class > Creating Questions > Engaging a Lesson > Adding PPT… > Fastgrade Lesson > ExamView > Practice

Now in the “Engage” tab. Make sure your receiver is connected. Select desired class. Choose your assessment options Teacher Led Student Paced Verbal questions for “on-the-fly” assessment Basics Tour > Creating a Database > Creating a Class > Creating Questions > Engaging a Lesson > Adding PPT… > Fastgrade Lesson > ExamView > Practice

Back to the “Prepare” tab and choose Lessons & Assessments Choose a folder in which to put your file (PPT, video…) Choose “Add file(s)” and browse to the file. Don’t move the file once you add it to the database – it’s just a link, not the actual file. Basics Tour > Creating a Database > Creating a Class > Creating Questions > Engaging a Lesson > Adding PPT… > Fastgrade Lesson > ExamView > Practice

Back to the “Prepare” tab. Create the answer key for the lesson. Now to “Engage” tab. Assessment Setup should be on “Student Paced” Basics Tour > Creating a Database > Creating a Class > Creating Questions > Engaging a Lesson > Adding PPT > FastGrade Lesson > ExamView > Practice

Create a new class. Create a Fast Grade Lesson with 5 questions. Engage the lesson. Basics Tour > Creating a Database > Creating a Class > Creating Questions > Engaging a Lesson > Adding PPT > FastGrade Lesson > ExamView > Practice

Hand out – follow step by step instructions and create an easy PowerPoint presentation
